Beauty Tips for FaceRemoving unwanted facial hair can be done easily, or with significant effort. Plucking, shaving, waxing and depilatories are some of the techniques used to remove unwanted hair on the face. Many are techniques you can use at home. Some require a trip to see a professional. Follow my beauty tips to remove unwanted hair on your face easily, and look your best.
Tweezing and Plucking
You can use tweezers to remove and reduce unwanted facial hair. Be sure to sterilize your tweezers before you being. Use rubbing alcohol to avoid infection. Use your fingers to stretch the skin around the area that you need to pluck. Use the tweezers to grip the hair firmly at the root, and the tug gently to remove it. Tweezing to remove unwanted facial hair is inexpensive, but takes a lot of time. You must be careful to avoid ingrown hairs. Be gentle when tweezing, and note that hair may regrow in 3-6 weeks.
Shaving
Disposable and reusable razors work well for shaving unwanted hair on your legs – but I don’t recommend it for your face. There are many brands made especially for women. Be sure to apply shaving gel or foam before using your razor. A number of brands make shaving gel and foam for women, as well. Always shave in the direction the hair is growing to avoid ingrown hairs. You can also use an electric wet or dry razor. Regrowth is fast, sometimes within several hours. At most, regrowth will occur in 1-2 days.
Depilatories
Depilatories are products that remove unwanted facial hair using chemicals, and usually come in the form of a paste or gel. Depilatories dissolve facial hair, allowing it to be rinsed away after use. Apply the depilatory to the surface of your skin, being sure to follow the directions written on the container. Leave the product on for the indicated amount of time, and wipe your face with a clean, wet cloth when finished. You may also rinse your face with cool water. Hair regrowth occurs within 2-3 days after using a depilatory.
Beauty Tips for FaceWaxing
Wax removes unwanted hair at the root. There are many different brands of home kits available, or you can visit a professional. If waxing at home, follow the instructions provided with the kit. Warm wax should be applied to the skin with an applicator, the allow it to cool. After it has cooled, use your fingers to lift a small edge of the wax, and then pull it off in the opposite direction of hair growth. Regular waxing interrupts the function of hair follicles, and can inhibit regrowth of unwanted hair. Regrowth does occur, however, usually within 2-3 weeks.
Threading
Threading is a system by which threads are manipulated and twisted around hairs, which are then plucked when they are captured. A cosmetologist or styling professional is the best way to try threading, as it takes training and practice to do well, and can be difficult to do alone. Hair regrowth occurs in 3-4 weeks.
Hair Growth Inhibitor
Hair growth inhibitors are plant-based products that effect the structure of hair follicles, causing hair to grow thin and soft. In some cases it will prevent all hair growth. Hair growth inhibitors are prescription products. You will need a prescription from your dermatologist in order to purchase this product. Usually sold as a cream, it is applied to the areas where you want to remove unwanted facial hair. This product remains on your skin, much like a moisturizer, and can be used in conjunction with other hair removal methods. It may take several months for results to appear.
Laser Hair Removal
Lasers are concentrated beams of light, used often in cosmetic and medical procedures. A professional must do laser hair removal. The procedure stops hair from growing by focusing heat at the root of the follicle. Results can often take months to achieve, and the procedure can be expensive. However, the effects can be extended, and are considered worth the additional cost by many.
There are many choices when it comes to removing unwanted facial hair. Follow my beauty tips for removing unwanted hair on your face, whether at home or by visiting a professional, and you’ll see the difference.
